Apparently, a lot of tent poles broke the day before we arrived when a storm hit the early arrivers. A Quebec troop next to us built a shelter out of tables and pulled a tarp over them after their "jamboree special" tents all died the day they arrived.Robert Houbenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03046804146019020835noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5682099522929063140.post-73381949694862122272024-01-23T22:27:09.129-08:002024-01-23T22:27:09.129-08:00I was there too. I was also fortunate to be on the beach while MURRAY was filmed sitting around a camp fire. He walked into a crowd, asked me to hold his can of Coke, and sat down right beside me. Move forward 43 years and I found a whole pile of slides in the attic. I converted them to digital and it brought back lots of memories.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02121870112539946169noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5682099522929063140.post-49943852966366958502019-09-14T13:32:34.152-07:002019-09-14T13:32:34.152-07:00My Dad was the Chaplain for the Jamboree, having e...My Dad was the Chaplain for the Jamboree, having earned the Silver Wolf in Scouting. I remember Anne Murray leading the entire jamboree attendees in Lionel Richie's "You CA feel it all over" again and again until we got it right! Quite the experience to be a 13 year old girl at a huge event like that! I also came home with several badges given to me by the scouts! My sister was 17 and liked to walk to the beach in her bikini! We had 40 kids there, out of the 400 American scouts a CJ77. It was a wonderful time. I remember Anne Murray. I arrived at the airport in Oklahoma City without a coat, and my mom made my dad race back home to get my jacket. He crashed the car getting back to the airport. I don't think I ever got the jacket. We flew to Toronto, my suitcase flew to Phoenix. After the jamboree, we wen to Boston, then on to NYC. The entire group was watching a baseball game in Shea Stadium went the lights went out for the great blackout of 1977.oicu812https://www.blogger.com/profile/15064777321103391843noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5682099522929063140.post-73197772561404312162016-01-07T20:54:23.421-08:002016-01-07T20:54:23.421-08:00I still have my patches an cj77 yellow shirt.
